Guest Post: Ramona Wray, author of Hex, A Witch and Angel Tale (plus a giveaway)

Today at Swords for Fighting, we have a special guest! Ramona Wray, author of Hex, A Witch and Angel Tale, is here to tell you all about her book. Please, give her a warm welcome.

Hi guys! Thank you for having me. As some of you may know, I'm the author of a YA fantasy novel called Hex, A Witch and Angel Tale. I've stopped by today to tell you a little bit about my book.

I'll start by saying that if you're looking for a good beach read, or something fun and lighthearted, you should definitely give Hex a try. It's the story of Lily, a high school girl with an unusual talent - if she touches someone, she sees into his/ her mind. Evidently, this neat trick of hers, makes her quite unpopular. But then there's a boy, and he doesn't seem to care about her persona-non-grata status; and then there's a second boy - a gorgeous, strange newcomer - and he's interested in her, as well. Suddenly the girl to whom no one ever spoke in the past, finds herself pursued by two guys.

If you like historical fiction, hang on to your seats because things aren't quite so simple. There's a back story, one that starts in the seventeenth century England, with a terrible curse. A curse that lives on...

Join Lily on an exciting adventure as she discovers the secrets of her past and finds love, all the while fighting to stay alive.

Hex, A Witch and Angel Tale is my first published novel. It's only been released in the US, and I do hope you like it.

Happy reading!

Thanks Ramona for sharing! I am in the middle of reading her book at the moment, and I am enjoying it. Definitely check it out!

Ramona has been such a great guest. She even agreed to host a giveaway for a copy of her book! If you want a chance to win a copy of Hex, A Witch and Angel Tale, then keep reading. All you have to do is leave on comment on this post with your email address. It is that easy! The contest ends on April 1st.

Review: The Long Weekend by Savita Kalhan

Synopsis:
Sam knows that he and his friend Lloyd made a colossal mistake when they accepted the ride home. They have ended up in a dark mansion in the middle of nowhere with man who means to harm them. But Sam doesn't know how to get them out. They were trapped, then separated. Now they are alone. Will either of them get out alive? This gripping and hypnotic thriller will have you reading late into the night.

Review:
The Long Weekend is one intense book for being so short. Honestly, I was a bit iffy on some parts that I almost put the book down and stopped reading. Some parts were disturbing, but I am glad I finished this book. I would never give this book to a young child because this book is so realistic feeling that I think it would give them nightmares. I was even scared at times, and I'm a college student! The way it is written made it feel like it could happen. I felt so bad for Sam and Lloyd. Their lives will never be the same after the things they had to go through.

I did enjoy the references to Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. Yes, this book is realistic and creepy, but read it if you can handle it. It does deal with the kidnapping of two young boys, so it is not a fun, light read. I was definitely on the edge of my seat reading this book.

Rating: 4/5

Relay for Life: Help Fight Cancer!

Hi everyone! I am participating in Relay for Life this year. It is a 24 hour event that takes place on April 9th. The goal of this event is to fight back against cancer by raising money that will go towards research. I am calling on all of you to donate any money that you can towards fighting against cancer. We all know at least one person who has or has had cancer. Whether it is $5 or more, any amount of money will help! You can even donate in honor, in memory, or in support of a loved one.

My Reason to Relay

Relay For Life is my personal opportunity to fight back against cancer by raising funds and awareness. I fight so one day no one has to ever face cancer.
It's amazing to think that millions of people will be diagnosed with cancer this year. But, by taking part in Relay, I am helping the American Cancer Society save lives by:
  • Helping people stay well by helping them take steps to prevent cancer or detect it early, when it’s most treatable
  • Helping people get well by being in their corner around the clock to guide them through every step of their cancer experience
  • Finding cures by funding groundbreaking research that helps us understand cancer’s causes, determine how best to prevent it and discover new ways to cure it
  • Fighting back by working with lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and rallying communities worldwide to join the fight
If you can, please help by donating. You can just click on the button at the top of this post or click here. Any amount of money can help towards finding a cure.

Sorry About the Lack of Posts

I just got through one of the hardest quarters of my college career. It was seriously horrible! I survived it, though. Anyways, thanks to everyone who has stayed with me during this hard time. I know I have been neglecting Sword for Fighting, but school comes first!

I am on spring break now, so my goal is to schedule a bunch of posts for the upcoming weeks. I have a couple reviews that need to be written (not many though because my reading time has been extremely limited).

Hopefully I can get my blog back up and running as it should be!
