Book Club: The Last Song- Discussion 1

I am participating in The Book Vixen's and The Book Junkie's Bookshelf's Book Club for August where we are going to read and discuss The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks.

Here is the first discussion topic:

Have you read any of Nicholas Sparks novels before? What was your first read by him? What is it about his books that you like? If this your first book by Nicholas Sparks, what about this book appealed to you? Has anyone seen any of his book-to-movie adaptations?

I have read only two of Nicholas Sparks' novels before: A Walk to Remember and Dear John. A Walk to Remember was the first book that I read by him. I actually liked the movie version more than the book, which surprised me, but just look at Shane West! I totally fell in love with Landon the moment I saw him. Can you blame me?:
I enjoyed Dear John way more. I loved the story. What I like about his books is that they seem like realistic love stories that could actually happen. Not those sappy fairy tales with a happy ending that just makes you feel miserable about your life. I have seen three of Nicholas Sparks' book-to-movie adaptations: The Notebook, Dear John, and A Walk to Remember. I loved The Notebook and A Walk to Remember. I can watch those movies over and over again. Dear John was a pretty great movie, but not my favorite.

The Last Song Book Club:

  1. Nope! Totally can't blame you because the same thing happened to me! Shane is soooo pretty! (thanks for the picture) True story: At the time I became obsessed with him, I actually considered stalking him. Poor guy.

    LOL!

Yeah, I didn't like DJ as much either.

  3. I don't blame you either! LOVED Shane West in A Walk to Remember.....I read somewhere that that movie was the first role where he wasn't cast as a "bad guy."
